The City welcomes the Ranew Company to downtown Milner.  Ranew has purchased the large building formally known as Rudy's Barbeque.  The Company's plans for the building are incomplete at this time but Ranew's normal policy is "first class".

The City of Milner has been given an area of 3.1 acres to be used for recreational purposes.  The land was donated by Phil Hembree of the PBC Development Co., the developers of Woodall Estates.  Phil is the owner and operator of Buffalo's Restaurant in Griffin.

WATER

The present 60,000 gallon tank is to be removed in the Fall of 2007 and will be replaced by a new 250,000 gallon tank in the Summer of 2008.

SEWER

After the original sewer system was completed in November of 2004, the city began the process of extending two sewer lines that would serve an additional 400 future homes on the east side of the city. These lines are now complete and are usable, but most importantly they will allow the city to discontinue three of the smaller, older lift stations.

McIntosh Trail Regional Development Agency is assisting the City with its twenty year development plan. There will be public meetings throughout 2008. The times and locations will be posted on our web calendar link, as well as, at City Hall.

The City  would like to thank Emory University for graciously donating enough shelving to stock the library and provide storage for books.  Also, we would like to recognize the Georgia Rural Library Project for the role they played in the decision of Emory University to donate the shelves to Milner.

The Rural Library Project presents a check to the City of Milner in the amount of $1000

In the fall of 2004 following the successful installation of a new sewer system, Milner City Council voted to approve efforts to build a public library in this city of 500 people. A library committee was formed and is currently working with the Rural Library Project.  A site in town has been identified on city owned land and fund raising efforts are underway. In preliminary discussions with the Library Committee the new library will also include a larger  meeting space for community functions.

We are at the halfway mark for the necessary funds to start building the new library. Remember to support the monthly Used Book Sales and Pancake Breakfasts as all proceeds go toward the library. See the calendar for dates and times.
