ADMINISTRATOR: 

Robert Harold WilsonHarold has been in this position since 2004.  He has 8 years of experience as a general agent for an airline, 21 years experience as an air traffic controller with the FAA and 2 years as a manager in the solid waste business.  He also serves as Treasurer of his church, board member of a 600 member auto club and a charter board member of the Lamar County Regional Solid Waste Authority.

CITY CLERK: 

Sandra Smith has served as utility clerk for 2 years until her recent promotion to City Clerk.  Her past experience includes 30 years with the Avon Corp. as an insurance specialist and several years with a local bank.

STREETS & PARKS MAINTENANCE:

Robert Lawrence has over 30 years experience as an over the road truck driver and has been conscientiously serving the city for over 6 years.  Robert is a deacon and treasurer of his church.

SEWER MAINTENANCE:

George Dietz is an experienced mechanic that worked for a Honda dealer for over 30 years.  His duties include the meter reading and cleaning of the 8 lift stations on a regular basis.

CITY ENGINEER:

The city has been served by the engineering firm of G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers, Inc. since 1992.  The people of the company has designed and overseen several projects in Milner over the last 15 years including the expansion of the water system, the new sewer system and now the expansion of the sewer and the building of the larger water tank.

CITY ATTORNEY:

Mr. Newton Galloway of the Griffin law firm of Galloway and Lyndall, LLC has served the City of Milner for over ten years. Mr. Galloway's specialty is Zoning.

 

THE MAYOR:

Joe C. Bostwick is currently in his 4th 4 year term.  Joe was born in Milner and has his degree in math.  He was a Vice-President and manager of the Milner Branch of the United Bank for 30 years.  Joe plays the piano for his church and has a working hobby of lock-smithing.

MAYOR PRO-TEM:

J. Fred Stephens serves the city as Mayor pro-tem since his election in January, 2008.  He also served as a councilperson from 2004-2007.  Fred says his desire is to be the "voice of the people" that he serves. Fred is retired from the Ford Motor Company. He is married to Alice and they have 2 daughters.

COUNCILPERSONS:

James W. Bevil took office January, 2008. James retired from the Atlanta Gas Company in  1995.  After retiring, he became a real-estate agent until 2001. He has always been interested in working toward making the community where he lived a better place by voicing his thoughts, both pro and con on issues that impacted his neighbors and family. He and his wife, Linda  moved to Milner in December, 2006.

W. J. "Snap" Morgan was elected in 2005, after serving as Mayor pro tem. Snap  has a vast amount of experience in both the textile industry and state government management.  He also served as councilperson and mayor for Milner in 1960's and 70's.

George Weldon  took office in 2004.  George retired in 2005 from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller, and has managed the family cattle farm for the last several years. He has several hobbies which include creating wheel turned stoneware pottery and designing and crafting unique jewelry. He and his wife, Regina share an active role in the Milner Methodist Church, Friends of the Library, St. George’s Episcopal School, and other community interest. They will celebrate 25 years of marriage in December, 2008.

Betty T. Wilson was first elected in 2003 and reelected this year.  She served as secretary to the judicial branch in the Flint Circuit for more than 30 years.  This experience gives the council good insight into certain legal problems that may emerge.
